There's No 'I' In Team.

This is an interesting one. A single player game involving teamwork. It's called Cursor*10. Part of the strapline for the game is 'Cooperate by oneself?!', which is charmingly bad translation but also very accurate. The premise is that you have 10 cursor icons, that are effectibely your 10 'lives' and a countdown for each. When the countdown expires, your next cursor is called into play and you have to start again. The object being to ascend through 16 'floors' to the top.

The catch is that you need to use the efforts of your earlier cursors to speed up your ascension, as each previous run through plays out again while you're on your current go.

Look, it's tough to describe so just try it for yourself, ok?

There are two installments to this game:
Cursor*10 (which I honestly can't remember if I have posted before)
Cursor*10 2nd Session.

So yeah, enjoy.

Also, it may be a while before my next update as I have to get moved into my new place. Woo! Hopefully be back and linking you up on Monday. Have a nice weekend!

Gobble A Duke.

This isn't a sentence you're likely to hear too often. But darnit, the internet just makes too much sense!

Every so often, I'd rather have an unhinged stream of incomprehensible gibberish. Because sometimes, I see a page full of well thought out parables and it fills me with rage. Occasionally, what I want is disorder, chaos, dizzying madness.

Imagine if there was an application that took all the text from a website and bit off the ends of the words and replaced them with the ends of other words. Anarchy would ensue. Every simple idea would become a dense, symbolist poem.

But truth be told. I'd just like it if the words all looked funny. Hurr hurr hurr.

Anyway, we're in luck. Someone has done just that.

It's called The Eater Of Meaning and it's good for some rough chuckles.

Keep On Truckin'.

As you know, with this blog I try my best to only bring you the most important and worthy links. With that in mind, here is the latest.

It's a german instructional video for the safe operation of forklift trucks.

I haven't gone off the deep end though. It may take a while before you see why I have posted this. But please, persevere. Around 3 minutes in, you should start to get the picture.

Oh yes.

I'm not even going to apologise for the pun because I think it's brilliant. Anyway, today's link is a gamne involving pandas and sniper rifles. Yet not in any way that would upset PETA. It's called Panda: Technical Sniper 2 and it involves using your sniper rifle to solve puzzles. Shooting anyone in the head is definitely frowned upon (however you are actively encouraged to shoot a small yellow duck, causing it to explode, naturally).

Anyways, the solutions are quite creative so give it a go.

Everything Old Is New Again.

How long do you think 'The Simpsons' has been on TV? Go on, an honest guess. A long time, right? 12 years? 15 years?

Nope. It's been 19 years. Nineteen. Unbelievable. Anyways, I just thought that point was worth making. 19 years of the same opening credits. Here's to 19 more, right?

Heck no. Time for an update. Well since the show is about to start being broadcast in HD, the creators have updated the opening credits. Check it out.

Weird, eh? Having seen it so many times, it had become forever etched into my mind. And now it's different. That'll take some getting used to.

Anyways, everyone will have seen it soon as it's going round the internet pretty quick. Get in on the ground floor, why not.

Twittering Away Your Life.

Yeah, I caved. I folded. I buckled.
I signed up to the latest internet fad. I'm now on twitter.
Monumental news, I know. The upshot of which is that you can see my 'tweets' over there on the right.

However, I have to say that signing up to twitter has resulted in my receiving the best email ever:

"Hi, Paul Nelson (paulcnelson). Stephen Fry (stephenfry) is now following your updates on Twitter."

Games 2: Game Harder.

I like flash games. Usually they're over pretty quick though and my only hope is that they were popular enough to get a sequel (I'm doing my bit by sharing with you guys). Often I am met with disappointment. But not today!

Totem Destroyer AND Ragdoll Cannon both got a sequel. Kalloo kallay!

Totem Destroyer 2 (watch out, it's harder)
Ragdoll Cannon Remake (not a remake at all, all new levels)

What was that, did someone just scoff at my 'sequels'? Well fine, here is a new game. Don't blame me when it BLOWS YOUR MIND!

Duck Sim 2008.

Guitar Hero.

What to do if you don't have real guitar talent. Fake it!

That's what this guy does, but then to be fair to him, he DOES have video editing talent... and a silly hat.

Book Worms

A slice of retro cool for you. There has been a spate of similar projects around the web recently, making mock-up covers for films-if-they-were-books and to a lesser extent games-if-they-were-books. I feel like I'm not explaining this very well. Perhaps a visual aid is in order. Here are a couple of my favourites from the 'movie' series:

and one from the games:

Pretty cool, huh?

On Thin Ice.

It's been a while since I posted a Nitrome game. Mostly because they've been releqasing some mediocre ones lately and this is not a place for mediocrity, no sirree bob! What this IS a place for though, apparently, is vikings. Which is what Ice Breaker is all about. Getting some midget vikings back to their longboat by cutting through chunks of ice, natch. Anyways, it's pretty cool (most definitely not an intentional pun) and you should play it. *COUGH!* sorry, I've got a thor throat (most definitely an intentional pun.)

Sleuth Diplomacy.

Right, this is going to be a pretty epic update. I am here today to talk to you about MS Paint Adventures. This will not be a link for the feeble-minded or sissy-panted.

MS Paint Adventures is a webcomic... of sorts. It's also a choose-your-own-adventure story... of sorts. To some extent it's a freeform experiment in user-submitted narrative... of sorts. What it most definitely is though, is bloody marvellous.

I'm a little late to the party in reporting this one. I've actually been reading it for a couple of months now but it has existed for much longer. It is currently spreading like wildfire though so I don't want you guys to be left out of the loop.

The way it works, in a nutshell: The overlord author (Andrew Hussie) starts a story with a single picture and then solicits suggestions from the community as to what should happen next. The best suggestion is drawn/animated and then there is another round of suggestions... and so on.

The current story started with THIS,
and has progressed through THIS,
and THIS,
and THIS,
and the situation as of today looks like THIS.

Pretty cool, huh? I'm not gonna lie to you, if you're interested in this, it's gonna cost your a fair chunk of your time. The current story has been running for over a year. Having read the whole dang thing though, I can tell you it's been worth it.

So yeah, if your PULCHRITUDE is high enough, I urge you to take on an MS Paint Adventure!
