Plinx Quickie.

How do.
Just a quick post to keep the blog ticking over. A clever play on words turned into an excellent collection of pop culture robots both famous and obscure. Click the sample below for the full-size version of...

Where's Wall-E?

You're all familiar with services such as SnipURL, TinyURL, etc right?
They take long, unwieldy web addresses and condense them down. Very useful, but a bit bland.

Wouldn't it be better if you could make any innocent URL look suspicious? Inject a bit of danger into your web-browsing? For example, would you click a link that looked like this:

http://5z8.info/hack-outlook_s1o7am_dogfights

Didn't think so, but you'd be perfectly safe to do so. It would just lead you to this very blog, replete with my grinning, boxy face.

This is the service offered by ShadyURL. I think they're doing important work, spicing up the prosaic world of surfing the net.

So, are you willing to take my word for it that this link is safe?

Go on, give it a click. I dare you.

Hiya.
Just wanted to call your attention to a webcomic series that's just been started by my pal Alex. It's a simple 3-panel type affair and the concept is explained in the title:

Setup, Beat, Puke.

Yup, each comic ends with Alex himself dropping a barf. It may not seem like much on its own, but when you see them all together... well it makes me laugh. And hey! it's not like there isn't a success story out there which uses repeated panels each comic, right?

Oh, also; Alex kindly put up a guest comic created by yours truly. Check that one out Here and click Here for the whole shebang.

Yay! *pukes*

Hiya,
I'm off to foreign lands tomorrow to participate in another half marathon because apparently I didn't learn my lesson last time.

So to tide you over, let's have a quickie.

How To Explain The Internet To A 19th Century Street Urchin: A Flowchart.

Yes, another one. I should have internet back by Thursday and normal service will be resumed but until then I am going to chuck the odd curio at you from wherever I can get online.

This is one that I just found on twitter. More specifically I found it because my good friend Aardvark put it there. Now I am sharing it with you. Internet in action, right here.

Anyway, here we go. It's a comparison chart which comprehensively proves why Optimus Prime is better than Jesus.

I would also have added that 'Transform and Roll Out' is a much better catchphrase than 'The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart' which is frightfully clunky and doesn't stick in the mind half as well.

Case closed.

Hello, I am currently devoid of internet at home so I can't write a proper blog post. However, I do have something which will render you unable to every look at a duck in the same way again.

Fairly warned be ye.

While I'm here, I might as well pour a forty on the curb for my missed opportunity. I was planning to go to London tonight to see Ok Go. Sadly, circumstance dictates that I can't be there. So here's their latest video. It's typically overblown in the usual heart-warming way, but for me, it is bittersweet. However, it does feature a stealth woodwind section. Not something I get to say often.

Hello, this doesn't really need much of a write up. But it did make me chuckle. So check it out:

The post title here has never been more appropriate. Today I am bringing you an article about the nominees for the Literary Review's 2009 bad sex in fiction prize!

There are some interesting nautical metaphors, the line "there is no mistaking that tang of fish-slime and sawdust", a whole paragraph that sounds as if it was written by primary school children and a book by the legendary Nick Cave.

It's an interesting read, and not for the faint of heart.

Enjoy!

To fill the gaps between proper posts, I'm going to start posting little bits of filler.

Here's the first one. It's a Doozy!
