Happy New Year!

The above is probably my favourite from this impressive 3 part article called The Year 2008 in Photographs.

I strongly suggest you check out the rest and have yourself a super happy new year. See you on the other side!

PlinXmas Advent Calendar: Christmas Eve!

Hooray! 24 days of providing festive diversions to all and sundry. After this one I can relax for a few days. Best pull something really special out of the bag today then, eh?

Will This Do?

The things I do to entertain you people.

Merry Christmas everybody! Whatever you're doing, enjoy!

See you in the new year.

PlinXmas Advent Calendar: Day 23!

Right, today is going to be a veritable feast of links because I'm sticking in all the xmas-themed games that haven't fit in anywhere else. So hold on to your stockings.

Light Up Christmas Tree - rotate the lights and wires to light up the whole tree!

Snowy - throw snowballs at the bad guys until they're completely covered then give 'em a kick and watch them roll around knocking everyone else out!

Rooftop Hop - get your fat santa to the chimney while collecting all the presents by flinging him about!

There you go, that should keep you going until tomorrow when I have something truly special/horrifying! See you then!

PlinXmas Advent Calendar: Day 22!

Wahoo! Thanks to the big cheeses at work, my holiday started half a day early! I am now off work until the 5th of Jan. Not that I'll have much time to relax, I have an absolutely packed holiday. It's going to be great.

Anyway, today I thought that maybe we could have something a little more highbrow than we've had thus far. I mean come on, looking back over the month there has been crude animation, ridiculous games, people falling in pits of poo and piles of empty beer bottles. Frankly, we should all be above this kind of thing. So dust off your top hat and monocle, and drink in some sophistication with today's most classy Link. Spiffing.

PlinXmas Advent Calendar: Day 21!

4 days to go. Crivens! Hope you're ready for it. At the very least you should have a tree up. But what if you fancy something a bit different this year? Does the thought of a standard supermarket-bought tree leave you cold. Well how about A List of the unusual christmas trees for inspiration? There's some good stuff in there, including this one:

Liver failure has never seemed so festive.

PlinXmas Advent Calendar: Day 20!

Holy cow! It's so nearly Christmas. Isn't it? I happen to think so. But some people might disagree. I think Christmas can start a week or two before the actual day. That seems fair. However, if you're one of these humbug types that like to confine it to one day a year. I may have just the site for you:

PlinXmas Advent Calendar: Day 19!

Ready for a workout? Got a whole set of winter olympics here. Featuring yetis and penguins and whales, oh my!
Anyway, give it a try. Fun stuff, even if it involves the mistreatment of penguins.
Yeti Olympics.

PlinXmas Advent Calendar: Day 18!

Nothing symbolises Christmas like a warehouse full of microwaves, I'm sure you'll agree. To that end, here's a video:

Ding!

PlinXmas Advent Calendar: Day 17!

Another festive game, you say? Ok then, if you insist. This one is called Grow Ornament and it requires you to add decorations to a christmas tree in the right order to make... stuff happen. It's a little bit odd, so perhaps you should see for yourselves!

PlinXmas Advent Calendar: Day 16!

*snaps fingers*
Got a groovy link today for all you cats and kittens. Get hip to this jive, daddy-o.
Dig it: Beat Nick.

PlinXmas Advent Calendar: Day 15!

Christmas shopping? Have you done yours yet? I have. Check me out with my forward planning. The worst part is the people. Swarms of them, each with their own agenda. Stumbling, mumbling drones getting in my way. Nightmare. Well, there is another way. You could take care of all your shopping online! You could be sitting around in your pants instead of struggling through the horde. Imagine the luxury. You could do worse than to start with This Site. You may get more than you bargained for. Especially if you start with that blue cup!

PlinXmas Advent Calendar: Day 14!

Hello. Today, for reasons best known to myself, I decided to run 5km dressed as Santa Claus. I'm not totally nuts by the way. There were a couple of hundred other people doing it too!

Anyway, in case you don't believe me. Here is the proof!

This kind of behaviour is henceforth known as Christmasochism. Zing!

PlinXmas Advent Calendar: Day 13!

This'll have to be a quick one as I'm going out tonight so no time for my usual witty banter. You must be devestated. Also, this will mean 2 games in a row. I am ashamed of myself.
Anyway, here's Frosty Flips. It's a game where you control Santa as he snowboards down a mountain. Arrow keys control. That's all you need. Have fun!

Friday 12 December 2008

PlinXmas Advent Calendar: Day 12!

You like Lemmings? Sure you do, everybody likes Lemmings. What's not to like? Shepherding a bunch of mindless creatures to a safe exit point without any of them getting mangled by savage traps. But what does this have to do with Christmas? Well, didn't the 'mindless creatures' bit ring any bells? Exactly, this game has the same premise but replacing the furry little fellas with christmas shoppers! Get it? Got it? Good. Play Christmas Consumerism.

Thursday 11 December 2008

PlinXmas Advent Calendar: Day 11!

So... Christmas is approaching. You may have noticed. How're you spending Christmas Eve this year? Watching telly with the family? Curled up on the sofa in front of the fire? Preparing the Santa-trap? Well, regardless, you're probably going to have a better time than This Dude did. Dang.

Tuesday 9 December 2008

PlinXmas Advent Calendar: Day 9!

Time for a game. This one is pretty straightforward. Basically, you need to take control of a team of military polar bears in order to save Christmas, The Web and their own lives from The Evil Spirit of Christmas by traversing such locales as a bank, a park, a nightmarish augmented reality inside the mind of one of the bears and... a furniture shop. So yeah, it may be generic but you should still play Warbears: An A.R. Xmas.

Monday 8 December 2008

PlinXmas Advent Calendar: Day 8!

I hope when you see this new link, you just may,
Have your heart grow 2, nay, 3 sizes today.

For on this day, of all days, the 8th of December,
I hope to provide one you'll always remember.

So sit right there, watch and don't move an inch,
I hope you delight in the tale of The Grinch!

Part 1

Part 2

Part 3

And now I must say, with impeccable timing,
I hope you enjoyed these fine couplets of rhyming!

Sunday 7 December 2008

PlinXmas Advent Calendar: Day 7!

Oops, I've left this one a bit late. Blame a lack of preparation. Hopefully after a few seconds of watching Today's Link, you'll have forgotten my indiscretion and probably your name and where you live. It's a bit hypnotic. So yeah see you tomo... boing boing boing boing boing.

Saturday 6 December 2008

PlinXmas Advent Calendar: Day 6!

I sat down at my computer for 5 minutes to try and find a decent christmas game for today's advent calendar and I happened upon Snow Line. It is now about an hour later and I have just finished it. Can there be a higher recommendation? I think not.

Anyway, play it. It's like Christmas Line Rider.

Friday 5 December 2008

PlinXmas Advent Calendar: Day 5!

I've never really read Calvin & Hobbes. If you're unfamiliar with the concept, it's a set of comic strips about a lad (Calvin) and his stuffed tiger (Hobbes). Several people have told me that they're really good but I just never checked any of it out. Well, I just stumbled on this treasure trove and I may have to rethink my position somewhat. Essentially this is a collection of just the strips where Calvin builds snowmen. Sounds crap, right? Well have a gander at this and then see what you think:

Photobucket

Heh, twisted genius. There are loads more Here.

PlinXmas Advent Calendar: Day 3!

Ok team, here we are in the Winter Zone. You have 3 crystals, let's see if we can win some more. Who's playing this game? You? Ok, and what type of game would you like? A skill game? Marvellous. What you need to do is get the little bunny to jump as high as possible by bouncing off the bells. Birds are double points. Now, it's an automatic lock-in so be careful. The rest of the team, you can watch on this monitor over here. The game is called Winterbells and is impossibly cute. Off you go!

Tuesday 2 December 2008

PlinXmas Advent Calendar: Day 2!

So, now it's December, there are a lot more christmas decorations going up. Everyone has a street near them where the neighbours try to outdo each other, right? Addidng more and more lights, turning their house into a shining beacon that could potentially cause aircraft to try and land on their roof. Oh, and my favourite, putting blow-up santas, snowmen, reindeer & elves that wobble about looking cheap and tacky, just begging to be shot at with an air rifle. But I digress. Essentially, the people who live on the same street as this guy below... they may as well give up now.

Monday 1 December 2008

PlinXmas Advent Calendar: Day 1!

Hello-ho-ho. Today marks the start of my link-based advent calendar! Every day until Christmas Eve, I will be providing you with a festive diversion to bring a bit of cheer to your otherwise unbearable* lives. Truly, I am the the very definition of the word 'hero'.

Today's one is a little app that lets you design a paper snowflake without any of the tedious mucking about with scissors and such. You can undo and redo every snip so you can really creat something beautiful... or you can knock up something rubbish in a few seconds. Like I have!

Photobucket

Yay!

So yeah, Knock Yourself Out. See you tomorrow!

*clearly, this refers to everyone else who reads this, not you. but don't tell them, eh?
